Come Dance With Us!

Francesca Frewer is a contemporary dance artist living as a grateful guest on the traditional, unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations. She has been studying Contact Improvisation for 13 years, and dances and teaches with the EDAM Dance company in Vancouver.

Drawing from the somatic practice of The Feldenkrais Method, Francesca's classes centre around cultivating sensitivity, awareness, and clarity in movement. Through open-ended movement explorations, we will expand our understanding of the mechanics of our own body; through structured partner exercises, we will explore the endless possibilities that arise when two unique structures meet. We will develop strategies for listening to our partner, responding to the dance as it emerges, and making collaborative choices. We will practice maximizing efficiency and minimizing effort, balancing softness and stability, and cultivating ever more options within the moment to moment choice-making that is improvisation.
